Mother Nature's Helper. A large seed allows Regreen™ to germinate quickly and get one step ahead of any potential weeds. Regreen™ is the best option for nurse or cover crops as it's the only true sterile wheat x wheatgrass cross and won't reseed itself or compete with desired species.
A dense, fibrous root system enhances Regreen’s™ ability to stabilize the soil surface and provide vigorous seedlings. A deep root system also allows the plant to be drought tolerant, winter hardy and adaptable to varying soil and moisture conditions. With characteristics from both parents, wheat and wheatgrass, Regreen™ is ideal for aiding in the establishment of native plant communities. This sterile hybrid cross will grow in a variety of soil types and environmental conditions. If your objective calls for a non-invasive nurse crop, Regreen™ is your answer!

What is Regreen?
Regreen is a sterile cover crop created by cross-pollinating winter wheat with slender wheatgrass (Triticum aestivum x Elymus trachycaulus). It is untreated and non-GMO with absolutely no genetic modification.
How do I use Regreen with a seed mix?
Seed Regreen at the same time as your native seed mix. For fall or frost sowings (October-March), the Regreen will germinate in spring along with the native plants. Mow the entire site during the first growing season when plants reach 8-12 inches or begin to shade the ground and flower. Mow back to 5 inches and repeat as needed throughout the first season.
What are the benefits of using Regreen?
Regreen serves multiple purposes:
- Prevents soil erosion
- Marks your planting site (it grows first and fast)
- Combats weed pressure during the first growing season
- Acts as a placeholder to prevent unwanted weed seeds from taking over
Will Regreen survive cold winters?
Yes, Regreen does not winter-kill. If sown in late fall (after a few hard frosts), it will sit dormant and germinate the following spring. If planted in early fall, ensure it germinates and establishes a good root system before hard freezes so it can return and continue growing the following spring. Avoid planting in early fall without giving seedlings enough time to prepare for winter.
Will Regreen work in shaded areas?
Regreen is versatile and can work in various conditions. However, for heavily weeded wooded areas with species like Buckthorn and Honeysuckle, Annual Rye Grass may be more cost-efficient as it covers more area at a lower cost.
Will Regreen crowd out my established native plants?
No. Regreen will not affect established natives. The extra plant growth will actually help prevent weed seeds from blowing in while your new plantings establish.
How long does Regreen last?
Regreen is sterile and short-lived, naturally fading out over time after serving its purpose during that critical first growing season.
